I went to Chester for a day trip, and I was curious about that city because I read something about the golden ratio and there have many buildings that align with the Golden ratio.

I went there by train from Sheffield. First, I went to the Chester City Walls and I walked there through by Shropshire Union Canal almost 1 km. and then went up to the walls. I walked over the city walls and there were some small towers around the walls. After walking the walls a bit I walked back to the cathedral side and walked to Chester Cathedral. There were nice Tudor-style houses on the walkway and when I arrive at the Cathedral I went inside there. That cathedral was beautiful and the decoration was similar to other Cathedrals but I saw some stories on the walls and I took some photos of roofs and windows. After that, I recognized the Town Hall close to there and the building was looking great.

In front of the Cathedral and town hall, they built a Christmas market. I walked through there and I visited many small shops and bought some cakes there. After that, I went to the Chester market and the market hall had many local shops inside.

Then I went to a cafe and rest a bit. Almost 1 hour later I started walking to the Eastgate Clock. The streets were with full of people and Chester Cross was there too. That city is touristic city and it was really crowded. There were many Tudor-style old houses, shops, restaurants, and arcades. There was some street music and live shows on the streets.

I walked to the clock tower and which was also over the city walls. I walked through the walls more and arrived at the Roman gardens. In that garden, I saw an old Roman bath and it was a nice park. After that, I went to the riverside and I saw 2 bridges on both sides of the way. I walked to the old-style bridge first and I recognized the Chester university building there as well then returned back to the Queens Park Bridge and walked there. It was a nice suspension bridge and from there I went to Grosvenor park. That park was huge and many plants and an old church and places were inside. When I walk through the park I saw a model train and they were using that for children. It was fun for them. I visited the old church and old places on the corner of the park and then continued to walk.

I arrived at the Chester Roman Amphitheatre and which area was used for fights in Roman time. It is visible to see that arena. After that, I walked to the center back and other places were Sick to Death and The Grosvenor Museum for visit but I didn’t have more time for them. After walking a bit more in the center and seeing some shopping centers I started walking back to the train station. That city was full of nice buildings and it feels like a historical era during the walk. I got my train back home and finished the trip.

Chester Zoo is also one of the famous places to visit there if have time.
