STEEL CITY, SHEFFIELD

Sheffield is one of the biggest cities in England. I want to write something about the city and where I visited or plan to visit in coming times. I am currently living in Sheffield for my study. Before coming to Sheffield I didn’t expect I can see many places in Sheffield but it is a nice to surprise for me to discover this city.

If you decide to come to Sheffield you will probably come by train or bus and the location of the train station and pond forge street bus station is in the central area of Sheffield. If you come to Meadowhall interchange bus station you will be near Meadowhall shopping center. You can start to visit that shopping center first or you will need to come to the center of Sheffield by tram, train or public bus.

When you are in Sheffield you can visit the city center first and there are many nice places around. First, you will see the Sheffield Hallam University campus and the Millenium gallery. Next to the Millenium gallery, there is a Winter garden. The Winter garden is a nice refreshing small area in the center. Just opposite to there Tudor square and some Crucible, theatre, and some pubs can be seen on that square. Then, you will see Town Hall and peace garden. I really like to take pictures of that area and generally, there are happening some nice organizations around peace Garden and Town Hall. You can see Christmas lights decorated there or in the summertime with summer decorations.

City Hall has some concerts and organizations. In that area, you will see two women sculptures and that sculptures built for women who had work in war times when their men went to wars. They continued the production lines. On the square, there is one monument and the street continues after that. That street is Division Street. Division Street has nice shops, café, and restaurants. Steam Yard and Heavenly Desert are my favorite places there. That street continues and there is Devonshire Green there is nice to meet up with friends and chill.

West Street is just next street of Division street. West Street is the Main Street of Sheffield and you will see a tram on that street and some pubs and restaurants. Night clubs are mainly located on that street as well. If you want to see the nightlife of Sheffield you can visit that street. Ecclesall Road is another famous street in Sheffield I think. I like to walk there and see many restaurants and café. On Ecclesall road, you can find many options for drink or eating areas. There is another building of Sheffield Hallam university calls Collegiate campus. Sheffield Botanical Garden is also next to Ecclesall road there is a nice area for gathering. Another close area to Ecclesall road is general cemetery. When you follow that road you are achieving endcliffe park. That park is so beautiful and has really wide ground. On summer days you can see there is so crowded. If you follow the park you can go to Peak District via Forge dam park. If you like walking there is so nice area for that.

Another area of Sheffield is Kelham Island. There is another nice place to see different types of buildings and some buildings are redesigned from factories to living areas. When you go there you will see most of the area’s red brick buildings. Kelham Island Museum is nice to check if you like engineering. There can be seen an industrial revolution in the past. On Kelham island, you can see many graffitied on walls. Park wood spring park is close to Kelham Island and I like to go there to see all Sheffield view with Peak District view. The emergency museum is close to Kelham island and there are many emergency cars for visit from past to today. Also, another museum in Weston park is nice. That museum is about Sheffield’s life.
