I was always curious about Strasbourg. Before I left the UK just before last month, I took a train from London to Paris and, after staying 2 days in Paris, I went to Strasbourg by train. The most exciting thing was seeing the huge Cathedral there because I had always seen nice pictures of it.

After arriving at the train station in Strasbourg, I walked to my hostel first. The first impression of the city was quite nice for me. I passed by the central area and around the Cathedral and crossed the river to go to my hostel. After checking in and resting a bit, I walked down to the city and first had my dinner there in a takeaway shop.

After that, I walked around the river a bit. Alongside the river, the houses and everything were quite unique for me, with well-designed old houses. I took some pictures and walked to the Cathedral side. It was getting dark when I arrived there. There were some light shows over the Cathedral. I watched for a while and took some photos and videos. People were standing on the street and just watching those light shows. I took some photos around there and there was a nice square too. After walking a bit, I went back to my hostel for rest and sleep.

Another day, I walked around the river and took a boat tour. It took 70 minutes. There was some guidance. I was listening to it and seeing around. Strasbourg has quite good parts with different types of houses and so many nice flowers around the river. There were many crowds on the streets with tourists. The boat tour is one of the best activities there. We saw another European Parliament building and went back to the main station. After that, I walked to the Cathedral and went inside. It was a huge Cathedral. After taking some pictures inside and outside of the Cathedral, I walked to the Petite-France area through St Thomas Church. I saw it with the boat in the morning but it was lovely to walk that part again. That area has the Pont du Faisan bridge and Square Louise-Weiss, and I walked until the modern art museum after passing Barrage Vauban and took many pictures. I went to a nice restaurant to have lunch and had some fish and salad.

Then I went to Place Kleber and took a tram to go to the Parliament Building. I arrived there and took some pictures from outside because it was late and it was closing. Then I walked to the Parc de l’Orange and then Parc de la Citadelle. They were nice parks in the city. Then I walked more and saw a nice square where people were dancing and chilling. It was in the Neudorf Ouest area. I entered a shopping center there, Centre Commercial Rivetoile, and got some coffee and cake.

After resting a bit, I went to my hostel. I booked the hostel for 5 days but I wanted to visit some nearby cities too. I went to Colmar, Basel, and Freiburg im Breisgau, and then, before the last day, I came back to Strasbourg. I wanted to do 2 more activities: going up to the tower of the Cathedral and visiting the modern art museum.

Early in the morning, I went to the tower and it was quite nice to see the city view from the top. I stayed there around 1-2 hours and took many photos. Then I walked to the modern art museum. I was not expecting much but when I visited inside I really liked it. It was quite good to see some great pieces of art.
