Exploring the Concrete Jungle: My Solo Expedition in New York City

I arrived at JFK airport last year after a flight from London. After passing through passport control, I headed to NY Moore Hostel for check-in. It was around 6 pm when I arrived, and I quickly checked in. After resting for a while, I ventured outside to find something for dinner. Then, I decided to visit Times Square since it was my first time in New York City and I wanted to experience its iconic atmosphere. The Square was bustling with activity, and I stayed until 9:30 pm before returning to the hostel to sleep.

The next day, I began my exploration of New York City from Central Park. The park was teeming with people engaging in various activities, and I enjoyed walking around and taking in the views of the skyscrapers. After spending the morning in the park, I visited The Museum of Modern Art and passed by Rockefeller Center. I snapped some pictures at these iconic spots before heading back to Times Square, which still buzzed with energy during the daylight hours. I also visited St Patrick’s Cathedral that day. It was a well-designed Cathedral and many tourists were visiting there. I suddenly saw some New York Police and talked a bit. They were giving some coffee and chatting with people about safety issues.

From there, I walked to Grand Central Terminal, marvelling at its unique architecture and snapping more photos. Then I also walked to the New York Public Library to see there. Afterward, I strolled through Bryant Park and past the Empire State Building, taking in the sights along the way. I then made my way to the High Line, a unique elevated park built on an old railway line. The views from the High Line were spectacular, and I particularly enjoyed visiting the Vessel and exploring its unique design.

As the day transitioned into evening, I made my way to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, where I paid my respects and reflected on the solemn atmosphere. Afterward, I grabbed dinner and rested for a bit before heading to Battery Park, where I enjoyed the views of the Statue of Liberty and the sea. I returned to the hostel to rest up for the next day’s adventures.

After returning from Washington in the afternoon, I walked around the Brooklyn Bridge area, enjoying the sights and the bustling atmosphere. I also took a ferry to look closer at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which offered breathtaking views of the city skyline from the water.

Afterwards, I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo, where I admired the Manhattan Bridge view and visited the Time Out Market for dinner. As the sun began to set, I captured some stunning photos and videos under the Brooklyn Bridge before taking a ferry back to the hostel. It was a memorable trip, filled with unforgettable experiences and sights that I’ll cherish forever. If you have any favourite spots in New York City, please share them in the comments below.
