I arrived in Melbourne on 30th August 2022 and from Melbourne airport to the center of Melbourne I went to by bus. My check-in at the hotel was around 3 pm and until that time, I walked around the center and the city was so beautiful. After that, I walked around the Yarra river. I walked around Flinder Street station and St Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne. After that walked to Federation Square and saw the views of the skyscrapers from there and then went to eat something and rest a bit after a long flight. I went to the McDonald’s and sit there a bit.

After that, I walked to Melbourne central station, and I walked to the Victoria State Library. That Library was so nice with green lights and a museum inside. I visited all floors of the museum and took some photos there until waiting friend who already went to Melbourne before me. Then we met and we went to the hotel to rest a bit. I went to the room and rest there but I didn’t want to sleep more because I needed to adapt time difference and it was my first long flight to a country.

Around 4 pm we decided to walk around and we walked a bit to Docklands of Melbourne before we went to a café because needed a coffee to stay awake a bit more. Then we walked to the Docklands to see the sunset there. Marvel stadium was around there too. That place and the sunset were so beautiful. I took many photos from there. We went to a KFC for dinner around the docklands and went to the hotel around 7 pm and needed rest more after that.

On the 31st of August, I woke up early and We decided to go to St Kilda beach with a friend. After 7 am we started to go there and we walked to the St Kilda beach. We walked through the Yarra river and continued to the botanical garden of Melbourne and walked around Albert park Lake. Round that area F1 racings happen and we could see all Melbourne view from that park. There were some nice birds and a park and then we walked to the beach. St Kilda was a nice beach. All the time near the sea is so peaceful. The weather was springtime there at that time. We rested a bit there after a few hours we decided to go back to the hotel to rest because the time difference make us a bit sleepy in the daytime. We used the tram to go central area also another thing tram is free in the central CBD area for use and my friend went for a rest but I walked more in the center.

I went to the Kmart shopping place and then eat my lunch around there. Around 3 pm I met with the friend again and we went to Brunswick street. That street was famous in Melbourne as well. There was a bit far from the center. The Center of Melbourne has many skyscrapers but that area was full of detached houses or some local café and places. After visiting shops and eating our dinner there we went back to the hotel by tram. For me sleeping a few min helps a lot when I am tired and I remember I slept a bit at that restaurant. After arriving at the hotel we rest a bit and wanted to go to a pub to see what is there. We went to a pub around 11 pm and met some local people there and talked about Australia and the culture there. That guys were so friendly. After sitting a bit there around midnight we went back to the hotel and slept.

On the 3rd of September, we needed to study a bit that’s why went to the Victoria state library and studied a bit. After a few hours, we went to Queen Victoria Market with friends. That market is so famous in Melbourne and there were many local shops. It was crowded and had many options for shopping.

After that wanted to have dinner and find a place for that and had dinner. In Melbourne, I recognized there are many options for Asian cuisine, and for food, areas had more options with different restaurants, but it was a bit more expensive than the UK for food and drinks. There were also Chinatown and other Asian food market options more than other types I think. On the 4th of September, we had a conference starting workshop and almost all day I was at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. That center was huge and at the same time, there were many organizations and conferences. That day for lunch we went to the South Melbourne market. I found Turkish cuisine to eat there and there was much different food from all around the world. That market was so nice to visit as well. After that day we continued to the conference until 9th of the September and we had a nice dinner in the Southgate shopping center that place had a nice food hall and a nice view of Melbourne.

On the 8th of September, we visited Monash University in Melbourne. I really liked the campus and buildings of the uni after visiting the research centers and other areas. We had our lunch there and we went back to Melbourne central Also they call the central area as CBD name. That day we had our dinner in a Chinese restaurant with our research group it was nice for us to get together there. Before that day I also met with my old university friend and it was a nice coincidence to visit Melbourne for me. I also had a chance to meet friends from the UK there.

From the 9th of September to the 14th of September I went to Sydney. When I come back from Sydney to Melbourne I landed at Avalon airport and went to the Melbourne CBD by sky bus and it took almost 1,5 hours from there. I tried to see more places in Melbourne the next day. On the 15th of September, I went to some famous café and places. I went to the Flovie café and then Lune crossaint there. I walked around AC/DC graffiti street after that went to the Fitzroy gardens and then walked from there to the National Gallery of Victoria. After that, I went back hotel and just had dinner and slept. The next day I went to Melbourne airport for going back to the UK. My flight was from Melbourne to Brunei then Brunei to London.

Visiting Melbourne was so nice and had many nice experiences and memories there. I really enjoyed and liked the city. That city had a more international atmosphere I think. There was seeming so good places for living too. If have more time in Melbourne there are many more places to visit. Some of them are; Melbourne Zoo, Yarra Valley, Gertrude Street, Melbourne Town Hall, Parliament House, Cooks’ Cottage, Australian Centre for Moving Image, Old Treasury Building, Regent Theatre, Museum of Chinese Australian History, Immigration Museum, Old Melbourne Gaol, Melbourne Cricket Stadium, SEA Life Melbourne Aquarium, Scienceworks, Melbourne Skydeck, National Gallery of Victoria. There are many things to do and easily find many different activities all around the city.
