Mardin

Mardin is one of the most beautiful cities in Turkiye. When I visit there I went by car with friends and my first impression of the city was so unique for me. The city was settled over hill and it can be felt easily in the history when start walking between streets. That city is a link between many civilizations. Also, people from different religions and backgrounds all live together and it gives another aspect of the city.

Mardin houses are very famous and there were many tv series recorded because of that. When I walk into the city I was feeling I am in a period of history between that houses. Another place that is so famous is the Grand mosque in Mardin. The minaret of the mosque and structure is so special. I walked inside and took some photos outside. Close to the mosque, I went to drink some tea, and the tea with the view was great. I was seeing Mesopotamia under the city and the land is called with productivity and history.

After that, I walked through Cumhuriyet square and see the shopping places, café, and restaurants with souvenir shops.

Another famous thing is Mardin Madrasahs and which madrasahs were used as a university building in the past. I visited the Kasimiye Madrasah and which was built by Artuqids. The meaning of all stones or small waterways was so special and it was showing like a life of a person from birth to death . There were some graveyards and many tourists to see the Madrasah. Another Madrasah I visited is Zinciriye Madrasah. That one also was so special and a great architectural building. Again that was also built by Artuqids. Sehidiye madrasah is another madrasah for visit in MArdin. Marufiye Madrasah is another famous madrasah in Mardin. There is a nice place in the city and worth to visit.

If you like to see museums, Sakip Sabanci City Museum about Mardin heritage and Mardin museums are a good places to visit about Mardin.

As mentioned before Mardin has people who believe in different religions and another famous place is Mor Hananyo Monastery. There are other places to visit in the city as a temple and a roman citadel.

Mosques are an important place in the city and Seyh Cabuk Mosque, and Kasim Tugmaner mosques are other mosques with the Grand mosque in Mardin worth visiting.

When visiting Mardin you can see also old bath houses, water fountains and famous old type houses. When visiting Mardin you would like to visit Midyat as well which is the close town to Mardin.
